Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Coin Trade 1000 collects, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it and the choices and rights you have under Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA.

1. Definitions

Personal data means information about an identifiable individual. Usage data is information collected automatically when you use the site, such as pages viewed and device type. Cookies are small files stored on your device. The controller of your personal data is Coin Trade 1000, 275 Slater Street, Suite 1100, Ottawa, ON K1P 5H9, Canada.

2. Information we collect and how we use it

When you register or contact us we collect your first and last name, telephone number, email address and the content of your request. During verification we may also collect identity documents, a selfie and proof of address. As you use the platform we record account activity, settings and device information.

We use it to answer your requests, to open and operate your account, to arrange the call from your account manager, to meet legal obligations, to keep the service secure and to improve it.

3. Legal basis for processing

We process data to perform our contract with you, to comply with the law, including anti-money laundering rules, and for our legitimate interests in running a secure and reliable service. We use your consent for marketing messages and for non-essential cookies, and you can withdraw it at any time. Where Canadian law or other laws that apply to you, such as the GDPR for visitors in Europe, require a legal basis, those are the bases we rely on.

4. Data retention

Contact and request data is kept while it is needed to answer you, and for a short time afterwards. Account and verification records are kept for the period required by Canadian law, which is generally at least five years after the relationship ends. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. When retention ends, data is deleted or anonymised.

5. Transfer and disclosure of data

We may share personal data with service providers who help us run the platform, such as identity verification, hosting, email and analytics suppliers, with affiliated companies, with licensed partners that carry out transactions for you and with regulators or law enforcement when the law requires it. Some providers are located outside Canada, which means your data may be processed under the laws of those countries, and we require comparable protection by contract.

6. Security

We protect data with encryption, access controls, logging and staff training. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we act quickly on incidents and notify you and the authorities where the law requires it.

7. Your rights

  • To access the personal data we hold about you.
  • To ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • To ask for deletion, where we do not need to keep it.
  • To restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
  • To withdraw consent and to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To use a right, write to [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity first.

8. Service providers

Providers act only on our instructions and under confidentiality and security obligations. They may not use your data for their own purposes beyond what is necessary to provide the service to us.

9. Analytics

We may use analytics tools to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited and where visitors leave. Where possible the data is aggregated, and cookie-based analytics are used only with the consent your browser settings and our notice allow.

10. Advertising and retargeting

If we show our own advertising on other sites, it may rely on cookies or identifiers to reach people who have visited ours. You can opt out through your browser settings and through the preference tools offered by the advertising networks.

11. Third-party links

Our site links to websites that we do not operate. Their privacy practices are theirs, and this policy does not cover them. We encourage you to read their notices.

12. Children's privacy

The services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as our services or the law change. The latest version is always on this page, and material changes will be highlighted to registered users.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the site against abuse. With your consent we may also use analytics cookies to understand which pages are useful. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may then not work as intended.
